Arrived well with great instructions. The labeling however could be improved. I’d recommend labeling with “Dunstan” to confirm this is what I ordered. Or did I get another cultivar?

Second year ordering from Chestnut Ridge. Same as last year, ordering is so simple and I love that they give me heads up as to when we can order. 6 pounds of chestnut seeds and they are all peacefully sleeping in potting soil in my refrigerator. (Ha, not married). Everything about ordering from here is perfect. The trees I planted last year were beautiful and I’m looking forward to ordering for many years until I can supply my own chestnuts.

I made my order three days before I came home from work. By the time I got home, the two pounds of seed nuts were already there. I’m very excited to see what comes of this as I just refrigerated them today. 25 Oct. 2018. This is my first go at Chestnuts or any nuts for that matter. I am a hunter however and look forward to bringing deer to my property, although I doubt my wife and daughter will let me take a shot at one. All things said I’m very pleased, fast shipping, clean, large nuts. Now the wait game. Come on spring time.

Received my order in three days. All the nuts are very solid and.clean. Placed them in the fridge on 10/24/2018. Will see how they look in Spring, after about 4 months of nurturing and then hopefully into pots.

Seeds arrived 2 1/2 days after purchase, cold stratifying as of a couple of hours ago, will definitely be ordering again next year. Only thing I can think of is that I don’t believe I ordered enough.

First time order. The planting nuts came in 3 days. I put them in somewhat moist peat, then into the fridge. Cannot wait to put them into pots and then into grow tubes in the fall. Seems like a great company so far from what I’ve seen and heard.

Mary Beth was awesome to work with. This is our first time dealing with Chestnut Ridge of Pike County and Mary Beth was SOOO helpful. Answered all of our questions. We placed an order for 1 lb of chestnut seeds on Oct 5th 2018. They shipped to us on Oct 8th and arrived on Oct 13th. The 1 lb bag equated to +/-45 nuts. Started the cold stratification process on Oct 14th. Never done this before so we are anxious to see how this goes. We have 20 acres of field and looking forward to starting the orchard. I guess in the Spring of 2019 we will transplant the seeds to 1 gallon starter pots, nurture them for a year then transplant them into the field in Spring of 2020. PS…we were SOO pleased with Mary Beth’s help and the nuts themselves that today I ordered 2 additional pounds of chestnut seeds Great job CRPC. Thank you.

I ordered 2 lbs last year, 84 nuts, lost 8 to mold during stratification. Protect them while you wait for them to sprout if you put them outside. Squirrels will help themselves. 90+% success rate. I will be doing a fall transplant from the pots on October 20th, 2018. They are very healthy strong trees from 18 to 30 in tall. Mind you I live and grew them in MN and will transplant in IL.

Second year purchasing nuts for planting. Last year two pounds was 88 nuts. Lost 8 to mold during stratification and the remaining 80 rooted. Very happy and I just placed another order this year for two more pounds. Excellent product.

Ordered 3lbs of chestnuts around 148 nuts and they sprouted in March planted them in root starter trays produced around 125 seedlings great success for first time ordering

Just because these are sold out does not mean you cannot use the chestnuts that have undergone the heat sterilization process for planting. I have had huge success using the nuts meant for consumption for planting. My germination rates have been well over 90% and I have some 2-3 year old trees that are 8 to 10 foot tall producing chestnuts already!!
CRPK –
Hello Jeffrey,
our wonderful chestnuts are NOT heat sterilized, that is why you can plant them if properly stratified!!! Happy to hear you are having great germination success!!!
